The Hand Therapy Certification Examination (HTCE) is a four-hour computer-based test consisting of 200 multiple-choice items. Examination content is based on the HTCE Test Blueprint.

HTCC has contracted with PSI Services (PSI) to administer the HTCE. PSI is engaged in educational and occupational measurement and provides examination development and administration to a variety of client organizations. PSI along with HTCC's testing consultant assists HTCC in the development, administration, scoring and analysis of the CHT examination. PSI, located in the greater Kansas City area, is a leading provider of licensing and certification examinations for professional organizations.

Examinations are delivered by computer on the PSI Test Center Network at over 1,800 sites globally. The examination is administered by appointment only Monday through Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Available dates will be indicated when scheduling your examination. Candidates are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. The exam is administered in the spring and the fall, each over a three-week window. The spring exam is administered the last week of April and first two weeks of May. The fall exam is administered the last week of October and first two weeks of November. Please refer to the exact dates below in "Deadlines, Fees and Refunds".
