HTCC offers the CHT exam at Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) Test Centers in Great Britain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa. Eligible candidates will be able to make an appointment to test at the center of their choice.
The 2010 test will be administered over two windows of six-days each: Monday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 8th; and Monday, November 1st through Saturday, November 6th. Please note that some AMP Test Centers are closed on Saturday.
Upon confirmation of eligibility to take the examination, you will receive
notification that you are eligible to schedule an appointment by email. Please
Note: This notification will be sent to the e-mail address listed on your account.
It is your responsibility to keep your e-mail address current with HTCC. The
eligibility email will include:
- The contact information for Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP), so you can schedule an examination date
- Your unique identification number that you will need in order to schedule your exam at an AMP Test Center
- Details on how to schedule an examination date with AMP
- Information on how to reschedule or cancel the examination, should that
become necessary
Your eligibility will remain active until the scheduled date of your examination and
is only valid for the examination date that you are applying for.
Eligibility
Requirements
In order to be
eligible to take the examination,
- You must be an occupational
therapist or physical therapist with a current professional
credential to practice in the United States, Canada, Great
Britain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, India or South Africa.
Depending on your profession and where you practice, a professional
credential may include a license, certificate, or registration.
In all cases, it is the credential that you need to legally
practice in that location. This credential must be active
and you must be in good standing with the agency that issued
it.
- You must have been certified or licensed for a minimum of five years, based on date of issue of the certificate or license.
- For the May 2010 exam, the date of issue must be on or before
May 1, 2005.
- For the November 2010 exam, the date of issue must be on or before November 1, 2005.
- You must have accrued a minimum of 4,000 hours of Direct Practice
Experience in hand therapy, obtained in the United States (including its territories and military bases), Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, India or South Africa.
- You may submit 4,000 hours of direct practice experience in the upper quarter (described below) obtained at any time during your practice as an OT or PT. Clinical hours obtained as a COTA, PTA or on a temporary license cannot be submitted.

HTCC has established
the following additional policies regulating international testing:
- We prefer to provide Candidate
Handbooks as a PDF via email or as a download as part of
the online application process.
- We prefer that candidates
apply online.
- Funds must be in US dollars
(using credit cards).
- Refunds will be given only
to credit cards.
- Since the exam will now be administered via computer, there is no longer a minimum number of candidates required to test.
